Fall is just around the corner, and there is no better time than this month to remind ourselves of the importance of fall prevention. Did you know that 1 in 4 Americans aged 65 and older falls every year? Falls are the leading cause of fatal and non-fatal injuries for older Americans. The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality estimates that 700,000 to 1 million hospitalized patients fall each year. Fall prevention is a National Patient Safety Goal for both hospitals and long-term care facilities. National Falls Prevention Week is September 21-25, 2020.
