Board Members
Along with our members, the Coalition is comprised of five founding organizations. The organizations include the Nebraska Academy of Physician Assistants, the Nebraska Hospital Association, the Nebraska Medical Association, the Nebraska Nurses Association and the Nebraska Pharmacists Association. The Coalition is governed by a 12 to 15 member Board of Directors that includes representation from each of the founding organizations plus at least one consumer member. Gail Brondum, BS, LPN, Executive Director
Gail joined NCPS as the Executive Director in 2017. In this role, she works to support healthcare providers across the region in their patient safety and quality improvement efforts.
Previously, Brondum was the Director of Clinical Quality Improvement at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska. In this role, she developed and implemented clinical quality improvement strategies for the health plan with a goal of improving member health outcomes. Brondum also has served as Operations Director, Quality Management Services at Alegent Bergan Mercy Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, where she had oversight of quality improvement, patient safety, infection prevention, accreditation, environment of care, care management, and social work. Prior to that, as Quality/Risk Management Director at Pender Community Hospital in Pender, Nebraska, she had responsibility for quality, risk management, patient safety, regulatory compliance, medical staff functions, employee health, and facility safety. Her initial healthcare experience was as an acute care nurse working in all areas of this rural hospital.
Brondum is a Licensed Practical Nurse and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Healthcare Management. She is a TeamSTEPPS Master Trainer and Certified Jus1q`t Culture Champion. Overall, she has more than 30 years of experience in leading, developing, and implementing healthcare improvement initiatives. -
Carla Snyder, MHA, MT(ASCP)SBB, Patient Safety Program Director
Carla’s clinical background is in laboratory medicine and she has a Masters in Healthcare Administration degree. She has worked in a variety of clinical settings including Nebraska Medicine, OneWorld Community Health Centers, Memorial Community Hospital in Blair, NE, and Community Blood Bank in Lincoln, NE. She has held a variety of roles in these various settings: bench tech, department manager, Operations Director, and a Patient Safety Clinical Quality Manager. In all these settings she has been involved in patient care and quality improvement initiatives.
She is a TeamSTEPPS Master Trainer, a Six-Sigma Green Belt, a Zero Harm Trainer, and a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality.

Ashley Dawson, MS, Patient Safety Statistician I
Ashley joined the NCPS team in 2017. She graduated in 2015 with an MS in Statistics from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She was a graduate assistant at the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, working primarily with the Nebraska Cancer Registry. She has previous experience as a data specialist with EHR systems and assessing client outcomes. Her duties at NCPS include helping maintain the NCPS database, Surveys on Patient Safety Culture administration and analysis, and fielding data requests.
