Adverse Drug Events & Pharmacogenomics
Adverse drug events (ADEs)—including medication errors, overdoses, allergic reactions, and side effects from drugs taken as prescribed—are a major but often underrecognized threat to public health. Recent analyses suggest that ADEs are the 3rd leading cause of death in the United States. UNMC’s Christopher Shaffer, PharmD, PhD, MS will be our speaker. He will also share about his work in Pharmacogenomics at the Munroe-Meyer Institute and the launch of a similar program at Nebraska Childrens and Nebraska Medicine.
