Mitigating the Risks of Patient Use of Insulin Pumps and Continuous Glucose Monitoring Systems

Many patients with diabetes rely on use of personal insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) systems to manage their glycemic control. When hospitalized, the desire to continue using their personal devices can pose quality and safety risks for the organization. The Joint Commission has released a new Quick Safety advisory about safe patient use of insulin pumps and CHM systems during hospitalization.
